Now let’s talk a bit about what you can do at home if you are suffering a mild case of ankle tendonitis. One thing that will work wonders is to use an ice pack. A bag of frozen pea’s can work great for this. You want to use the ice for 15 minutes at a time. Wrap your ankle if you need to be on your feet, this will help support the ankle and keep it in place and help prevent further injury.
Another method that doctor’s sometimes prescribe is a cortisone injection. They are not to much in favor of this in the ankle because the tendon can rupture very easy. If you start to feel pain or swelling in your ankle and you have had ankle tendonitis in the past, you need to try and not over do it. One thing that you may want to do is to talk to a physical therapist or even an orthopedic doctor to learn how to not injure or learn to maneuver your feet during physical activity.
